Sophia Mintas (Voice, Violin, Piano/Keyboard Teacher)

201 E Fairview Ave., Connellsville, PA 15425

I work for Practice Makes Perfect.

I teach voice to all voice types: Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, Bass, and young voices. I specialize in Bel Canto. But, if you have a specific goal or specific genre of music that you want to work on, please bring it with you. I have worked with students on a wide range of genres. I have performed in Italy, Mexico, off-Broadway, Los Angeles, and Pittsburgh. I have experience with children’s choirs, solo work, duets, rhythmic music, classical music, musical theater, etc. I have worked with people who had damaged their voices and helped them recover and regain strength in their voices.

I teach Suzuki, contemporary violin, and fiddle. I have been doing violin for about 8 1/2 years, and I have a current student who is a member of the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (PYPO). I can help you perfect solo work, duets, trios, and quartets. I teach sightreading. I teach my students how to practice smartly and not waste time, because, if you play for an orchestra, you do not have a lot of time to waste. I guide students to correct their bowing and fingering techniques, as well as, how to hold their violin. While this might seem simple, if you do not hold the violin correctly, you can get a cramp in your hand or strain a muscle. I help students reach their goals, as well as succeed, and have fun!

I teach piano. I teach my students to sightread, practice smartly, and use proper techniques. I work with solo work and duets. I have composed my own music. I have helped students who wanted to compose music or were working on preparing a project or a performance piece.
