Hello! My name is Emily Tarantino, and I am a teaching artist, double bassist, and arts administrator in Pittsburgh. I have taught at several teaching studios in Pittsburgh and now teach out of my home in West View (North Hills). I frequently perform with orchestras in the area, including the Columbus Symphony, the Akron Symphony, the Erie Philharmonic, the Resonance Works Chamber Orchestra, and many more. I also enjoy making chamber music with friends in Contraduo and the Kassia Ensemble.
I taught my first private lessons in high school, and have been honing my craft ever since. In recent years I’ve been able to work with students in private lessons as well as group classes and ensemble. I have enjoyed working with students ranging from young beginners to retirees. I strongly believe music is for everyone, and it is a privilege to help others learn. My primary instrument is double bass, however, I also teach the other string instruments and piano. My goal is to inspire students to enjoy their instruments. This often leads to creating exciting arrangements of songs they enjoy, alongside traditional repertoire.
