Craft Your Music connects all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to create a community of music lovers, living their unique experiences with music-making and listening. Whether a student begins their engagement at a young age or embraces their music with a young heart, Craft exists to create a home for each musician.
Passionate, dedicated instructors drive the success of CYM’s programs. Concerts, live streams, and lessons offer individualized support in supporting each student’s vision for success. Forums and courses provide engagement and insight into the connections between the many aspects of listening to, performing and loving music.
Craft Your Music offerings are a natural outflow from the programs offered initially to only younger students as the Center for Young Musicians.
Young Musicians develops a community of students with exceptional ability, refined characters, and a life-long love of music through a comprehensive, long-term curriculum emphasizing an early-start, an expert faculty, a dynamic support staff, and a mutual commitment between the families and the school.
CYM offers all-ages individual instruction, and forums, courses, group instruction, teacher development, and live and live-streamed events.
All students meet like-minded friends who share their interests, background, and goals.
In 1994, the Center for Young Musicians launched in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as one of the initial providers of early childhood music in response to the growing awareness of music education’s importance in developing intelligence and aptitude in young students. The first faculty members at CYM developed a large community of families who treasured the warm and structured development of their child’s musicianship. As the years progressed, a steadily growing faculty contributed unique attributes to the community, always providing a reliable and engaging experience for each of CYM’s students.
Early emphasis on live performance and celebrating one another’s achievements created a bright, inclusive, and non-competitive environment that still permeates any CYM activity.
We’ve heard it many times, “I love music – but I’m not young”. Craft Your Music is an outgrowth of the development of our offerings that encompass the aptitude, interests and timeframe of the adult student. Whether you’ve played music all of your life, or you have always wanted to, follow our forums, attend our events, join a course, or sign up for some lessons. Craft Your Music is exactly that, it’s about what you and your entire family desire from music.
CYM programs provide opportunities for the following instruments:
