Morgan Wynn is a Pittsburgh-based trombonist and music educator known for her versatility as a multi-genre freelancer. She is Interim Principal Trombone with the River City Brass Band, and has played with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Opera, Resonance Works, Incidental Chamber Players, and NAT28. Morgan was a member of The Brass Roots (2014-2024), which served as ensemble-in-residence at East Liberty Presbyterian Church and commissioned new repertoire for brass, percussion, and organ. She has also performed alongside artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Terence Blanchard and The E-Collective, and Peter Cetera, and her playing can be heard on live and studio recordings with the Brass Roots, River City Brass Band, and Youngstown Jazz Collective.
A passionate educator and clinician, Morgan enjoys working with students of all ages and encourages a holistic and balanced approach to musicianship. She teaches K-12 trombonists at the River City Brass School of Brass, as well as a studio of private students. Other recent engagements include the IWBC Mentorship Program, West Virginia University, the Virtual Trombone Workshop, Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras, and Youth Chamber Connection.
Morgan attended Youngstown State University (BME) and Carnegie Mellon University (MM, AMS). She was a recipient of the Leslie H. Cochran University Scholars Award, winner of the Dana Young Artist competition, and finalist in the IWBC Ginger Turner competition. Her teachers include Rebecca Cherian, Peter Sullivan, Dr. Michael Crist, John Olsson, and Chris Ceratti.
